Virtually none. The CCE does programmatic assessment and is launching assessment initiatives, one that will help us understand and measure the impact of our programs on student learning and one that is piloting a method of using assessment via intentional goal-setting with partners as a way to generate and deepen the partnerships themselves. The CCE is also piloting use of a database (already in use by the Career Development Center) to help track student involvement across our programs (and others), helping us understand how civic engagement is integrated into a students’ curricular and co-curricular experience. At the institution level, though, there is no clear measure for “Integration, intentionality, and impact.”

At UR:

The main outcomes the University seeks are to increase institution-wide are “integration, intentionality, and impact” of our civic engagement efforts. The Center for Civic Engagement has been designated the “hub” for coordinating intentional civic engagement—though that by no means means we are the only place it is happening.

At UR:
Our University’s strategic plan has 5 guiding principles. One of these, Principle 4, directly relates to civic engagement:

Principle IV: The University will be intentionally engaged with the city of Richmond and the wider region. Community engagement will be both a method to shape students within a civic- minded campus culture and a means to contribute the intellectual capital and skills of faculty, staff, students, and alumni to the identified needs of the larger community.
